Rishra school of Martial Arts is undoubtedly the topmost institute for striking arts in the district. The head instructor and owner of the club, Debasish sir is an amazing man, and equally a great teacher. The seniors are the most friendly people on earth you'll witness. This Institute mainly focuses on flexibility and agility, and use of artificial weights are very minimum. Although you'll see some really strong people there. There will be a lot of stretchings, the warm up only takes about 15 minutes, which seems boring in the beginning, but it's extremely necessary, which you'll get soon. Training involves mostly shadow boxing and high kicks, but there are focus pad works and muay thai pads too. For strength training, there's a variation of bodyweight exercises, squats, tiger push ups, seat ups... etc. This is very rigorous and exhausting. Sparring is barely allowed and restricted to the higher belts. This club lacks a few things materialistically. May be more pads. Bags, some weights. But they charge 400 rupees(like 6$) a month. This is one tenth of any martial arts institution in Calcutta or other major cities. I've seen brilliant hardworking boys and girls coming in here, making a community, breaking and moulding each other. Their technique is top notch, and determination, unbreakable. The lack of materials is fulfilled by the desire to compete. From here, you'll come out a better version of yourself, and who knows? May be a great fighter! For me, I'd surely rate it 9.3/10. My respect to my teachers and friends I had there. Oss!
