Rather than just a stadium, it's indeed a sports village developed by the late visionary couple Thiru.Bose & Thirumathy.Kanchana Bose. AJ Stadium is the oldest and historic badminton stadium in Sivakasi (Indeed in the whole Virudhunagar district) which was built 40 years ago, in 1983 when badminton was not that popular like nowadays. AJ Stadium is an important reason for the popularity of Badminton in the locality by conducting so many tournaments every year for the past 3-4 decades. Surrounded by full of scenic views and trees, with ample parking space, AJ Stadium has 4 wooden badminton courts (Will be converted into synthetic flooring by end of October 2023), Basketball court, Swimming Pool, Table Tennis, Walking area and gym. To support and shape future champions, they have Badminton Academy & Table Tennis academy for Kids. On Nov 5, 2023 the stadium was reopened after getting installed with sandwich puff roofing and synthetic floor for all the 4 badminton courts at a cost of around Rs.50 Lakhs. The function was felicitated by National Badminton Coach Mr.Vijaydeep Singh and opened by Virudhunagar District Superintendent of Police Mr.Srinivasa Perumal. As one of the members, I thank Mr.Bose family for creating such a lovely place for the society not as a revenue generating place but for the healthier generation and for the future champions.
