Freedom Park Old Shimoga Jail

Freedom Park, once an old jail, is now a clean and peaceful place to relax. It has wide walking paths, open spaces, and is great for families and kids. The park is well-maintained and has a calm atmosphere. It's a nice spot to spend time, walk, or just sit quietly.

Very nice experience as u visited during Durga Puja time. Lot of food stalls and dance and cultural programme was running that time. Main attraction was the elephants carrying the goddess.

Visited during Dasara festival; There is a huge stage and every evening during navratri there will good cultural performances and there is good seating arrangements too. Food stall will also be there. Parking space is huge and vehicle can be parked easily but on the final day of Dasara on the day of Vijaya dashami, there will main event and on that day don't park vehicles inside as very huge crowd will gather in the evening during touching of ravana.

A MUST visit Huge Park . Two Gates at the front side. Washrooms is at Right side of the Parking Area. Strong and Dynamic Track for Walking & Jogging. Stage is very huge. Some of the Events happening here are - Shivamogga Dasara Cultural Events followed by Banni Program on Vijaya Dashami, Gruha Shobhe, Crackers Selling ( from 2023 ) , Cultural events on some occasions.. #NammaShivamogga
