The Government College for Women, Anantnag, is a college in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) UT under Indian governance. It was established in 1979 as an intermediate college in the heart of Anantnag town. The college offers various courses in Science Stream , Arts Stream , B.C.A and Home Science and now Commerce as well........Well maintained classrooms with best teaching faculty......

In April 1984, the College took the lead in South Kashmir in introducing Science Stream for girl students. It was in March 1997, that the College was allowed to have Sericulture as one of the vocational subjects and it was followed by the introduction of Home Science in the year March 1999 as full-fledged stream and Computer Science Application (B.C.A.) in 2005.

The fact that I had to sit down and take my time to recall all the favors this college has done for me because they're loads!! I'll not write much about the infrastructure because whole Anantnag knows what an enormous college this is. It consists of more than ten blocks for every stream and it holds courses for all streams, be it arts, sciences, commerce, computers anything! It has got a huge library, auditorium, a gym, a canteen, two computer labs, few dark rooms, big and beautiful gardens, everything. But what I really liked about this college and will remember for my entire life is the social life here. The professors are the friendliest, so is the other helping staff. They encourage you to be the best version of yourself. My speaking skills have touched skies, thanks to my professors. The debates, speeches and presentations they take is all worth it. You're always encouraged and supported to take part in sports and other skills. I've also learned calligraphy, some basics about computers and a little badminton too. I also tried to learn chess but I think it's not my cup of tea . I'm right now the best I could ever be, I do not fear anything and the social anxiety has totally disappeared, the credit goes to the supportive teachers of GDC Women Anantnag. They are strict and friendly both at the same time. Oh I forgot to tell you, there's also a small stationery shop inside the campus where you'll get your stationery at a discounted rate. Overall it's an amazing college and I had a great experience here ( I'm about to graduate). If you're thinking of taking an admission here, well... no need to think further, just do it ! And remember if you want to make your college life fun and interesting, you gotta be an interesting person yourself. You can have fun and excel academically both at the same time !
