I would give this gym 10 stars if that was possible! I did try a few of the gym's around Canggu before committing to Elite fit and it was the best addition to my life in Bali. I love that the weight training area is so extensive with so much space for everyone. I don't think I ever wasted any time having to wait for a machine because someone else was using it. I also really enjoyed the workout classes. What really made it so fun was the energy of the coaches - Icha, Rey, Tinos - that just really makes you want to work harder! My goal for Bali was focusing on my fitness journey. During my first week I took a Mobility class with Martijn and he was the FIRST trainer EVER to notice that I'm hypermobile. So I instantly signed up for 10 PT sessions with him and it was the best money I spent. I asked him a million questions and he was basically my fitness encyclopedia. He also has the best hacks for upper body days - my back day has forever been changed for the better! My body scan also showed that I increased my skeletal muscle mass from 22.3 to 23 and genuinely by the time I left, I felt so much more stronger and like I wasn't training blindly anymore. I'm so grateful for everything I learned from him! The recovery area - I basically lived there! It's so aesthetically pleasing, I never felt like it's overcrowded and depending on the time of day you may even have it all to yourself which is the most conducive for relaxing and recovery. I loved that the cafe right upstairs has a nice view so you can do your workout, go for recovery and then move upstairs to grab a bite to eat while you work on your laptop. And finally, THE STAFF - I can't say it enough but they were the highlight for me. Being a digital nomad and living abroad can be isolating sometimes and the gym being a constant in my routine, it's the staff that I saw EVERY DAY and they really went above and beyond from just being hospitable and polite. I genuinely felt so cared for by every single person there. From Gede & Made smiling ear to ear when they greet me (even if it's 7am it's the best way to start the day seeing such happy people), to the babes at the front desk (Yuni, Dea, Tio, Tata, Asri, Diana, Mei) who greet me when I enter and genuinely converse with me about how I'm doing. They're always so bubbly and happy and it never feels forced or obligatory chit chat. Then there's the amazing guys at the cafe (Timmy, Gunter, Ferry, Tama, Komang + all the kitchen staff) that fed me SO WELL those two months, from making my preworkouts & remembering my protein shake order and making the best steak and veggies which became my usual. I genuinely was so sad when Gunther made my last protein shake haha Then there's the lovely people at the recovery area and cafe (Ratih, Putu, Willy, Nova, Widya, Artha, Rey) they were always so kind, so polite, so conversational in the best ways! There's so many more people I'm sure I haven't mentioned but overall everyone was so funny, so friendly, so genuine and it really made me feel at home. I know first hand that the work culture is not set from the bottom up but from the top down so I truly give so much credit to Putu for the environment he's created at his gym for the members and for his staff. I went up to him the first week itself and was like "I love your gym" and I didn't even know at the time how much more I would come to love it over time. To sum up - the gym alone with the equipment/space already makes the place top tier and great for your workout. The recovery area is high quality. The food is great + very reasonably priced. But the PEOPLE that work there just change the whole game because they don't treat you like you're just another member & it's their job to be nice to you but they treat you like you're an actual person and try to get to know you over time. That's such a personal experience that is just unmatched compared to the other places. I can't wait to go back next year! Anyway, thank you for coming to my ted talk...
